Diagnostic Assessments:
A psychological assessment is a personalised process that may include interviews, questionnaires, tests, and observations. Our skilled clinicians adapt each assessment to address your unique needs and concerns. The assessments we offer are sometimes referred to as psycho-educational assessments, learning assessments, diagnostic assessments or Dyslexia assessments.  The aim of an assessment is to look at possible causes for a child's difficulty with learning as well as offer strategies to suggest how to help them with their learning and development.  Some assessments we offer include:
-
Cognitive Assessment
This assessment evaluates intellectual abilities, including thinking, reasoning, attention, and memory, and can also identify giftedness. These assessments can also be used to assess giftedness. Tools used include the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS-IV) and the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC-V).
-
Cognitive and Adaptive Functioning Assessment
Combining cognitive testing with an assessment of adaptive skills, this evaluation investigates intellectual disability, focusing on daily functioning and practical problem-solving abilities.
-
Specific Learning Disorder (SLD) Assessment
This assessment explores learning challenges, such as Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, or Dyscalculia, through a combination of cognitive testing and an academic achievement test (e.g., WIAT-III). Conducted over two in-clinic sessions, it may also involve observations in an educational setting for a comprehensive understanding.
-
ADHD Assessment
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder assessments involve interviews, standardized questionnaires, observations (including in educational settings), and cognitive testing. These measures evaluate behaviour, social skills, and executive functioning.
Please note: We do not provide pharmacological support; medication consultations must be conducted with a peadiatrician or psychiatrist.
-
Memory Assessment
Memory functioning is assessed using the Wechsler Memory Scale (WMS-IV), a comprehensive tool that evaluates various aspects of memory, including verbal, visual, working, and recognition memory.
